One in four serious casualties in Tasmanian towns and cities are vulnerable road users, many of whom are pedestrians injured or killed at crossing sites that have signals and those that do not.

The Australian New Car Assessment Program’s latest campaign, that includes real-life dashcam footage, shows how Autonomous Emergency Braking can save lives by stopping the vehicle as soon as an obstacle is detected.

AEB has been attributed to a 27 percent reduction in fatal crashes and rear-end crashes by between 54 percent and 57 percent.
